About The Competition

The first English Open Chainsaw Competition was held for the first time in 2004, if we are honest it exceeded our early expectations. An intial entry of 20 Carvers was planned for, on September 17th 2004 39 Carvers from America, Sweden, Germany, Australia, Japan and the UK set in motion an amazing weekend at Sandringham. The Photograph's in the Gallery section of this web site only tell half the story. But in two and a half days the Carvers Artistic flair and imagination took shape and the result was a stunning wood sculpture.

Visitors were totally surprised and amazed at the exciting spectacle that gradually unfolded over the weekend.

Our second event in 2005 again saw a large number of Carvers descend onto the Sandringham Estate. Once more the excitement of the noise, and thrill of the chainsaws burst into life. People were once more amazed, thrilled and entertained by this exciting spectacle.

So come and be amazed this September and visit us at our new venue of Tatton Park, near Manchester Airport. where the third English Open Chainsaw Carving Competition will be held. All the carvings whether they are the smaller speed carvings or the main competition pieces will be sold, or put up for auction.

The Speed Carvings will be sold on a daily basis by the Carver and the main pieces at an Exciting Auction on the Sunday.

About The Carvers

The Carvers are amazing to watch. They use massive pieces of wood to produce beautiful carvings up to 20 feet in height and each one becomes a sought after work of Art. At the end of the competition the carvings are auctioned with part of the proceeds going to charity. Imagine seeing great lumps of wood being carved into something beautiful - with a chainsaw! The Atmosphere - the Sound - the Smell. Without doubt, the 3rd English Open Chainsaw Carving Competition will attract people in their thousands.

The visitors in their thousands enjoyed the spectacle and all appreciated the skill and talent of each individual carver and their piece of work. Although the show was open 10a.m till 6p.m many of the carvers took advantage of being allowed to start at 8a.m and worked solidly through till 7p.m to complete and add the detailed finishing touches to their masterpieces.

We are planning to invite 35 international and UK competitors to this years competition.

As the Carvers are registered and accepted they will appear on the register, this will give their details and websites.

The Gallery Section of the Carvers is well worth a visit.
